Industry status of fine chemicals

The world's fine chemical industry is the most developed to push the United States, the Federal Republic of Germany and Japan, its product output ranked first, second and third in the world.
New categories of fine chemicals are emerging in the United States. In the 1960s, the United States developed water treatment agents. In 1973, oil prices rose sharply, forcing oil companies to develop new oil and gas resources, and oilfield chemicals became a hot product. With the vigorous development of the electronics industry in the late 1970s, the reagents used in the electronics industry became the focus. In 1982, sales of specialty chemicals in the United States were highest in agricultural chemicals and oilfield chemicals.
Since the 1970s, the Federal German fine chemical industry has adopted the so-called "differential growth strategy", that is, the selective and focused development of fine chemical products with their own characteristics and technical advantages, so that the sales of such products continue to increase.
The main producers in the world are several well-known large chemical companies, such as DuPont in the United States (its proportion of fine chemical production has exceeded 50%), Bayer AG in Federal Germany and Sumitomo Chemical Industries in Japan.
China's fine chemical industry foundation is weak, the output growth is fast. In 1985, China produced 89kt dyes, 79kt pharmaceuticals (12 categories of chemical apis), 205kt pesticides, 769kt coatings, and 170Mm film. Chemical reagent (1983 output value) nearly 500 million yuan, adhesive (1983) 110kt, plasticizer (1983)215kt, detergent (1983)670kt, tape (1984) about 240Mm.
